Today we went on a day trip to Cadiz, Spain. Cadiz is a coastal city on the Atlantic ocean just over an hour away from Seville by bus. It is well known for being one of the oldest cities in Europe. We got there in the morning and the weather was gorgeous. It was about 25C and breezy, a nice change from the 33+ temperatures we were getting in Seville. There are helpful walking tours laid out around the city, showing different historical features like churches, trading history, or bastions and fortifications. We stopped by the first info center we found and picked up a map to start our tour!

The tour took us past the biggest beach in the old section of Cadiz, Playa de la Caleta. It was very windy, and a bit cold, so we didn't swim. Instead, we walked along the beach and in the water.

On the beach there is the former La Palma Spa.
We then walked out to San Sebastian Castle, a former military fortification. The walk out was very exciting because the waves on the left were very big, and kept crashing onto the path.
We then continued our city tour, and stopped at Tavira Tower. This tower has a Camera Obscura at the top, which uses mirrors and lenses to project an image from outside onto a large circular screen inside a completely dark room.

To finish our tour we walked around in the old city center, checking out all the medieval town walls and gates that surround the district. Before heading back to Seville we stopped for some tapas and it was some of the best tapas we had so far!
