We just landed in Toronto and are waiting for our plane back to Ottawa... So here are the photos from our last few days in Warsaw. We got to spend lots of time with Kuba's family and see some things in the city.
On Wednesday:
We visited the Copernicus Science Centre again, a very interactive museum! |
Had lunch at Veg Deli... Delicious vegetarian food! |
On Thursday we returned to the Łazienki park, since the weather was nice.
Oranżeria |
Lody! (Ice cream) |
Łazienki Palace |
"Will it look weird if I use this umbrella for shade?" (Yes) |
Then we met up with the family to celebrate Kuba's grandma's 94th birthday!!!!
Glasses swap |
Visited Europe Square, with a very interesting fountain and, of course, giant TV screening the soccer game.
On Friday we went back to the Old Town, saw an exhibit of miniature replicas of buildings that used to be in Warsaw but were destroyed during the war.
Saski Palace as it once looked. This was destroyed and a small part of the middle arches was rebuilt and now serves as a war memorial - the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Piłsudski Square. |
Barbican in the Old Town |
"Playground" that Kuba played on as a child (This was also used for cleaning carpets) |
In the evening we saw a fountain show in the park |
On Saturday, we explored a neighbourhood called Żoliborz, where Kuba's mother and uncle grew up.
We found a fitness park |
And visited the Breakfast Market which takes place there every weekend |
Then in the evening we saw an outdoor jazz concert right in the Old Town Square |
The end!
We had such a great trip! Thank you to Kuba's family for making our time in Warsaw so great and for Celia, John, Maria and Taylor for being such good travel buddies :)
